IMAI Story

In 1980s, IMAI distributed gift wrapping paper among the reselling model shops. The wrapping paper’s dimensions are 550ｍｍ × 396ｍｍ. On the paper were shown IMAI’s model arts, such as the Nippon-maru, the Roman Warship and the Chinese Junk (misspelled as JANK).

Rare model kits without any cover art. These kits are only for the resellers to build and display in their shops.

IMAI provided its authorized resellers with an authentic sign to put on their shop windows.

IMAI released a series of authentic paints for sailing ship models, bearingthe name “IMAI COLORS”.

By applying the metallic base layer and a wiping coat, the plastic model kit will have the tones of an authentic bronze one.
